Gurdeep as VAT Controller for Intel Corporation was the only specialist on VAT/GST implementation in a USD$4.5b operation for several companies in an organisation employing 9,000 staff in Malaysia and including a Shared Service Centre with 300 finance professionals.He supervised a VAT/GST steering team of over 30 staff from different divisions within the Intel’s operations in Malaysia. He was extensively involved with VAT (called Goods and Services Tax (GST) is Singapore) implementation for clients when it was introduced in Singapore in 1994. Gurdeep successfully engaged various Revenue authorities in VAT/GST controversy including successfully obtaining a multi-million dollar VAT/GST settlement for a US based MNC in Singapore. In 2007-2008, his involvement was instrumental in the VAT/GST implementation process within the United Arab Emirates. Nicholas has been recognized by as one of the leading forensic accountants in Middle East by the global publication Who’s Who Legal, which commented Nicholas Cameron is a “high-profile” figure in the sector with “unsurpassed expertise” in forensic accounting. Nicholas has been based in Dubai for six years during which time he has led assignments all countries in the Middle East and the Levant. Prior to this Nicholas was a senior member of KPMG’s Forensic team in London. Nicholas has been appointed as the Crown’s expert accountant in criminal fraud proceedings on three occasions and has given oral evidence before the Crown Court in the UK both as an expert and as a witness of fact. Nicholas has spent over 10 days in the witness box in three trials and been cross examined by six Queen’s Counsels. Nicholas’ evidence has been accepted in all cases, and he was given an honourable mention by HHJ Stone QC in a case where the defence abandoned their expert at the conclusion of Nicholas’ cross examination. Prior to joining KPMG Forensic, Nicholas was a Principal Investigator with the Serious Fraud Office; the UK’s leading department for investigating and prosecuting serious and complex fraud and corruption.     Shagen Ganason is the head of Risk and Assurance at the Te Puni Kokiri (Ministry for the Development of Indigenous Peoples), a New Zealand central government agency. He has over 30 years of experience in the field of accounting, audit and risk management. His experience has been global, taking him across many cultures and a variety of industries including manufacturing, airline, agriculture, financial services and government across three continents.Apart from internal audit and risk management, he has had roles in continuous improvement and the development of lean practices in Australia and the Asia Pacific.
